Sometimes we get some more unusual inquiries seen from a structural perspective. This somewhat special 'tent' is no exception.

This structure, that is erected for MENUE CPH, has been used during the summer of 2021 as a frame for parties, concerts, exhibitions and a general relaxing environment set on Refshaleøen in Copenhagen. The pavilion creates a large space almost as a dome, a semi transparent screen in front of the surroundings, only opened fully by a centred Oculus pointing to the sky.

The design consists simply of one piece of fabric, grounded and hold in place by appropriate ballast. This 'cloth' is then suspended upwards by a steady stream of air, creating a continuous smooth vault covering the outdoor space.

SE provided structural calculations and oversight of the installation, ensuring stability, general safety and proper anchoring of the pavilion.
